Homemade Nutella Recipe

Homemade nutella recipe- 4 ingredients and 20 minutes are all you need to make this chocolate spread at home. Made with pure cocoa powder, roasted nuts, sweetener and a pinch of salt this chocolate spread is so much better than store bought stuff. Vegan and gluten free!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hazelnuts toasted
  • 1 cup powdered cane or regular sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons extra light olive oil or coconut oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup melted chocolate optional
  • 1/2 tablespoon hazelnut oil optional

Instructions

  • Measure and add 1 cup toasted hazelnuts to a food processor jar. You can also add 1 cup of almonds or mix of hazelnut and almonds too.
    Begin to process it from low speed to high speed. First powder the nuts thoroughly.

  • On further processing the nuts will become a thick paste by releasing natural oils.

  • Keep processing again on high speed and on blending it will become hazelnut butter or almond butter.

  • Now with the food processor running, slowly add powdered sugar, salt, cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon light olive oil or coconut oil to the nut butter. Also slowly drizzle the melted chocolate now if you are using it for making nutella.

  • Continue processing again in high speed for a minute or until the nutella is glossy, smooth and creamy. The texture should be similar to brownie batter.

  • Transfer to airtight jars or any other resealable container and store homemade nutella in refrigerator or at room temperature. This spread will thicken as it cools and will dilute a bit when left at room temperature for few minutes.

Notes

1. If the mixture does not turn silky and smooth add 1 more tablespoon oil while processing
2. You can peanuts or almonds instead of hazelnuts
